The vintage match-making process

  1. Submission. Submit your car at fastautoexit.com/sell-my-car/ with year, make, model, mileage, condition, VIN/chassis number, location ZIP, and photos. In the notes, include any provenance highlights (race history, prior ownership, marque certification, concours appearances).
  2. Initial market read. Within 24 business hours we share a written market read covering recent auction results for the specific model/year, current Hagerty band, private-network expected range, and our recommendation on channel fit (private match-making vs. auction house consignment).
  3. Provenance verification. For significant cars (above 250K typically), we work with the buyer's marque specialist to verify provenance against factory records, prior owners, and period documentation. This step adds 2 to 4 weeks to the timeline but is essential at this tier.
  4. Commission disclosure. Both seller and buyer sign the disclosure before any introduction. Disclosure is the same as for modern transactions.
  5. Buyer introduction. Typically within 14 days of submission for significant classics (longer than modern exotic because the buyer pool is smaller and matching requires more curation).
  6. Due diligence. Buyer's pre-purchase inspection by a marque specialist. For race-history cars, archival research. For coachbuilt cars, body and trim authentication.
  7. Closing. Buyer wires funds directly to seller (or to attorney trust account for estate sales). Buyer arranges enclosed transport. Title and provenance documentation transfers with the car. Match-making commission invoiced separately to each side.
